Tailored Summer

A tailored look means that the clothing is structured to fit the body well, with clean lines and sharp shapes. It usually includes pieces

• Trousers or skirts with seams and fitted waistbands
• Vests, suits, coats, or fitted jumpsuits

Tailored clothes follow the shape of the body, instead of being loose or baggy. Think linen suits on the beach, vibrant blazers with swim briefs, sheer button-ups with coastal accents. The focus is on warm-weather tailoring with a twist of glamour or resort wear.

DANDYISM
Dandyism is a fashion style where a person dresses in a way that is elegant, stylish, and full of personality. A dandy look is detailed, and can be a bit artistic. But it is always a polished, fashionable look. Dandyism started with men wearing fancy suits in history, but today anyone can create a dandy look by combining tailoring with color and personality.

Black dandyism came about in the 18th century as a movement where Black people used tailored clothing as a form of self-expression. This allowed those who styled in this way to define themselves beyond stereotypes and to challenge racial segregation.

MET Gala 2025 aimed to showcase the contributions of Black designers and individuals to the evolution of dandyism and its impact globally.

A Dandy Look Might Include:

• A blazer or fitted jacket with colorful pants or skirt
• A vest with a silk scarf or ruffled shirt
• A hat, cane, gloves, or stylish sunglasses
• Fun shoes — like loafers, oxfords, boots, or heels
• Jewelry or bold makeup to add flair

My look is inspired by Françoise Hardy—singer, accidental fashion legend, and the ultimate French "It Girl". 

Rising to fame in the 1960s through the yé-yé music scene, Hardy captivated audiences with her voice and unconventional charm. 

Mick Jagger called her his ideal woman. 

Her transformation from shy singer to international fashion star was guided by her photographer Jean-Marie Périer, who helped shape her sleek, trend-setting image. 

Hardy became the muse of designers like Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, André Courrèges and Rei Kawakubo; defining her look, which is as pervasive today as it was back in the 60s, with her signature bangs, white ankle boots, and vinyl trench coats. 

She rocked mini dresses, oversized sunglasses, and shaggy fur coats like no one else. 

Channeling her was my way of honoring timeless elegance with a rebellious edge.

Our outfits for the judges brunch were to be an ambassadorial look for LUXE Paris.  I wanted my look to be a little fashion forward, a little business, and feminine.  For fashion forward, I used the LUXE Paris Oregano dress with its asymmetrical hem and the MY Bags My Osaka purse with it large gold chain handle.  For business, I added the LUXE Paris Emprendedora jacket and MY Bags My Ketama moderate high heel shoes.  For femininity, I used the MY Bags My Phi Phi hat with the Zuri Only You Rose Elite necklace, Only You Rose Elite earrings, Filigree Rink - Pink Opal/Champagne/Sterling ring for a brooch, and Just Because Elite ring.
