Khokhloma is an old Russian folk craft that appeared in the 17th century in the village of Khokhloma. The word "Khokhloma" is Finno-Ugric. Khok means "white tree", most likely birch, and loma means "elevation". The dishes are made exclusively of wood, the honey-golden background or patterns cast a soft metallic sheen and in golden-red-black patterns, carry a piece of the sun. Three main colors are used - red, black and gold. The first symbolizes the sun, vital energy and joy, the second personifies strength and depth, and the last - luxury, wealth and the divine. The city has acquired wide world fame as one of the largest centers for artistic wood processing and Khokhloma painting. Since 1993, an icon painting workshop has existed on the basis of the Khokhloma Painting enterprise.

The coat is a red military style coat with gold buttons and trim. It has a V-neck with long black lapels decorated in a gold floral pattern; a red and gold Russian floral pattern front panel; and large black cuffs decorated in a gold floral pattern.
The skirt is a black full-length, A-line skirt with a large band across the bottom in a red and gold Russian floral pattern.
The boots are a black mid-calf boot with chunky heels, and decorated with a red and gold Russian floral pattern.
