ARKONA is celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival from October 3-7, 2025 with a new Chinese Collection. This collection consist of 8 items. Eight is a lucky number in China because its pronunciation, 八 (bā), sounds similar to the word 发财 (fācái), meaning "to become rich." Furthermore, the shape of the number 8 resembles the infinity symbol, symbolizing constant abundance and prosperity. In Chinese culture, this number is also associated with the Noble Eightfold Path in Buddhism and symbolizes harmony and well-being.
The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival, is a harvest festival celebrated in Chinese culture. It is held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese lunisolar calendar with a full moon at night, corresponding to mid-September to early October of the Gregorian calendar. This year is falls on October 6, 2025.
One of the items in the new collection is QIPAO (traditional female long tube dress)
The qipao (also known as a cheongsam) is a traditional Chinese women's dress that originated as a loose-fitting garment worn by Manchu women and evolved into its modern, form-fitting styles under the influence of Western fashion in Shanghai in the 1920s. Its classic design features a high stand-up collar, diagonal button closure, a fitted cut, and side slits, combining elements of traditional Chinese dress with Western elegance.
