MVD 2018 - The Shape of Water Photo Challenge

Elisa is falling in love with The Asset.  Each day her love grows stronger and her dreams become more vivid.  Tonight is no different.  She finds herself in the laboratory's library at work.  She is not wearing her janitorial uniform, but a lovely tea gown in passion red.  The library is not normal.  It's completely underwater.  Elisa thinks this is her chance to try and express her love to The Asset.  Being a mute, Elisa decides to express her love with the written word.  Floating through the water, she pours her heart out onto the paper.  Just as she is finishing, there is a huge whirlpool in the water ripping her words of love from her hands.  Elisa jolted out of her dream realizes that a storm has rolled in and huge gusts of wind were coming in through her bedroom window.

1960s evening fashion was split between the 1950s style tea gown and the sleeveless sleek fitted shift dress.  Rich evening dresses were made of gold and silver brocade or plain satin in white, red, blue, and olive green. Hair styles of the 1960's were a bouffant or short beehive with sweeping bangs combed over and around. Add sexy tall pumps or sandals and plenty of gold jewelry. Hold a clutch purse and wear a soft vintage fur coat to arrive and depart in. The 1960s look is simple and classy. It fits naturally into most cocktail parties without looking “too vintage.”

With the movie being set in the early 1960's, I created a look that bridges the decades.  I started with the Eve dress with fur by Virtual Diva.  Instead of a fur coat, i left the fur on the bodice.  I then created a tea gown by adding the A-skirt from Cherish by Wilson's Closet.  Because this skirt was made with flexi prims, it gives the feeling of floating.  To help with the illusion of being underwater, I used Editorial - Underwater by Tableau Vivant.  For Jewelry, I combined the classic strand of pearls from the 50's and the gold and colored gems of the 60's by using the Perles de Glorie by Lazuri.  This set is simple pearls with intermittent gold balls of colored gems.  I used the classic pump, Red Snakeskin Pumps by The Little Shop of Goodness, since the style was popular in both decades.  The make-up I kept simple with smokey eyeshadow and red lipstick Karin by Glam Affair.  I chose the Close Your Eyes Pose by :LW: Poses, because of its props of floating pages of paper and a floating scarf; which I tinted red to match the dress.
